The Carroll Youth Centre has been meeting the needs
of the young people aged 5 to 21 in Stanmore, Winchester
for nearly ten years.
Children’s Fund money provided a full time Children’s
Youth worker with specific responsibility to work with
young people in the age range 5 to 13 years old to increase
their social recreation and education opportunities.
Establishing the post enabled activities to be provided
such as

Home School Link s- mentoring services in two
Schools in St Lukes ward, Winchester. |

Health and Well being, developing sports and healthy
lifestyles |
The project has been successful in the first year of
operation:

number of children accessing the centre has increased |

Home school links have been successful |

inclusion support work with disruptive and at
risk pupils |

Healthy lifestyle workshops have been set up |

Children have attended babysitting first aid courses. |
Feedback from parents + children + schools is that
it is making a positive impact on the children using
the scheme.
