Building Better Futures for Hampshire Children
Healthy Arts

Hard to reach groups in Rushmoor have had several Art Attacks and special schemes funded by Hampshire Children’s Fund in 2003-4

Children’s Fund gave children at two Rushmoor schools the opportunity to participate in After School Art Clubs, via ‘Rushmoor’s Healthy Living Scheme’. The clubs work with groups of around 15 children on a team project or artwork intended for prominent display at the schools’ building or grounds.

Children at one school produced a fantastic school banner as well as beautiful decorative cushions for use in their new library. Two amazing tile wall panels were produced with a ‘seasons’ theme for the reception area of the other Art club School.

As well as expanding art skills and providing a fun and friendly after school club, the art-clubs develop the children’s self esteem and team building skills. The children feel enormously proud of their achievements, and this extends throughout the whole school environment with a sense of ownership.
