| Mini-mad 4-it Project |
 |
Hampshire Children’s Fund and the Single Regeneration
Budget funded a new ‘Mini Mad 4 it’, for
kids aged 7 –25 years at St Clare’s Church
hall in Warren Park.
60+ young people attend Mini Mad 4 it, with new members
joining every week
During the winter, Mad 4 it kids were offered:
| • |
art and craft projects, |
| • |
activities s/a dance mats |
| • |
air hockey |
| • |
basketball |
| • |
netball |
| • |
climbing |
| • |
caving |
| • |
participation activities |
| |
friendship and respect |
Liaison with parents and carers is extra important.
One idea in the pipeline is a summer camping trip where
the young people can bring an adult, and give them some
quality time away from everyday life.
Bob says “Staff and volunteers are crucial to
the project’s success…we’ve now taken
on two ex-volunteers as paid employees. “Mini
Mad 4 it’ is not a quick fix, but it does offer
young people opportunities in the here and now. The
future will measure the project’s success by the
number of over 14’s still attending the project;
hopefully less incidences of anti social behaviour by
local young people, and more contentment and pride,
proud of who they are and of where they live”.
