This NCH and Children’s Fund project recruits
mentors to help young people avoid getting into trouble/or
who may already be at the stage of final warning. It
is also for those who may need help and friendship because
they are disadvantaged, or what is often called ‘socially
excluded”
Volunteers befriend young people for around 6 months,
and help them by providing stability and acting as a
stable adult role model. Volunteering involves
| • |
Getting together weekly to chat and doing stuff
together to interest and motivate |
| • |
Helping with homework and any literacy or numeracy
needs |
| • |
Exploring places of interest, or going to the
cinema, or supporting them in a sport |
| • |
Helping them to develop hobbies and interests
for after you are not around |
| • |
Most importantly, showing them how a positive
and realistic approach can help deal with life and
all its difficulties |
People of from all walks of life make good volunteers,
so if this is you or you know someone who is/needs help,
please call NCH 01329 225730 for a chat.
